<p>Last summer three local young activists, Connor Waterman (10), Katie Birchmeier (10), and James Kleimola (18) gave personal testimonies before the Michigan Senate Transportation Committee and the Michigan Disabilities Caucus regarding the personal challenges they face as kids with disabilities to safely accessing their local Washtenaw county communities. Their testimony was a critical step in passing the Complete Streets legislation bill on August 1st of last year.  This Wednesday, these three kids will be formally recognized by Senator Randy Richardville and Representative Mark Ouimet at the state capital in Lansing.</p>
<p>The Complete Streets Law states that when creating new roads and revamping old roads, planners consider the safety and access concerns of legal cyclists, pedestrians and transit users of all ages and abilities.</p>
