PEAC hosts first mobility audit for SRTS

This Saturday, April 16th,  PEAC will be breaking new ground again by holding the first mobility audit for a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program.  Join us in conducting an audit of the sidewalks and streets around Saline. We will be assessing the area for use with both handbikes and wheelchairs. We will have about 16 racing handbikes from the Disability Hall of Fame for volunteers to ride around Saline.  Instruction provided by Glen Ashlock, a member of the Disability Hall of fame. This is a free a event and a chance for all cyclists to support cyclist who have disabilities.  Help your community become safer for pedestrians and cyclists!

Great work! We face the same issue in Ann Arbor. We live a mile from our neighborhood elementary school but there are only sidewalks on random streets so there is no safe route for my 11 year old son, who is visually impaired, to ride his trike to school independently.

Thanks for the note Amy. We’d love to know which elementary school is your neighborhood, so we can pass on this information to some additional interested organizations that might be interested in helping to organize an audit in your area too, as well as, alert the AAPS and City that it is a problem in your area that they need to fix.
